September 2007, the Walker Company hosted, what was arguably, the most talked about event in Mount Sterling—Dozer Day 2007. It was an opportunity to give back to a community that supports them, by giving kids from two years to middle-school age the chance to explore and even operate heavy construction equipment.
A crowd of more than 3,000 attended this heavy equipment theme park that benefited a worthy cause. Admission was $5 per family, which included lunch and free gifts such as a camera to document the day's exciting activities. All the proceeds and contributions, totaling nearly $12,000, were then donated to The Caring Group, an organization in the Gateway area that serves families in crisis situations.
The Walker Company has since received countless expressions of thanks from community members who were present. One wrote, "Giving back to the community is such an important act for all involved. I know this generous act will not be forgotten, and I hope that others will follow Walker's lead."
The day was a huge success in many ways and was made possible by the support of: Wilson Equipment Sales, Shaun and Melanie Kern, Dutch Ishmael Chevy Ford Mercury, Whayne Supply Company, Newman Tractor, Holt Equipment Sales, Job Rentals Inc., Barnes Blacktop Sealing, Major Brands Tire, Construction Machinery, JC Equipment Sales, Cannon Equipment Rentals, Ritchie Brothers Auction, C & M Giant Tire, Keath Building Supply and Ruth Hunt Candy.
